Dental Healthcare at Dental Clinic Ayr

Regular dental checkups will ensure that any problems with your gums and teeth are identified quickly. On a basic dental level, brushing and flossing work best. Always brush your teeth twice a day and if possible floss after meals.

If you need any further information, ask our dentists and dental hygienist for advice.

Dental Hygienist, Ayrshire

At The Dental Clinic Ayr, we have a fantastic healthcare service and our hygienist is experienced in dealing with any gum health issues.

This can vary from patients who want to prevent plaque build-up and reduce gum inflammation to people who present with far more complex periodontal health challenges.

We advise that you should visit us for regular cleaning and checkups twice a year but people at greater risk of oral diseases should have dental checkups more often.

Hygienists are trained to execute preventative measures; this means they’ll spot any issues that could develop and address them early so you won’t need serious oral surgery.

Tobacco and alcohol use, gum disease and poor oral hygiene may mean that you are at greater risk of poor dental health. People with diabetes and pregnant women may also need more regular dental checkups.

A dental hygienist will thoroughly and professionally clean your teeth. This means they’ll remove plaque and tartar from your mouth, including under your gum line - this treatment is commonly known as a scale and polish.

They can also provide other services such as dental x-rays, which helps to diagnose problems, applying fissure sealants, and applying fluoride solutions. They are not cosmetic dentists, and can’t do things like dental implants or teeth whitening, but are concerned with improving your overall oral health.
